There are Leaders, Then there are those who Lead

As I was finished watching a Simon Sinek Ted Talk relating to leadership, the main thing I got out of the video was this; Those who lead are the ones who accomplish things. In life, people are doing things constantly, but how they are doing it is what differentiates people from each other. Simon Sinek related his talk to how Apple is so successful. People buy their products not for what they do, but how they do it. The customers know the type of quality they are purchasing, and are of understanding that Apple hold themselves to a higher standard. In life, if people understand the reason as to why you are doing something, and see you accomplish that task, you are going to get noticed much more than if you were to do something and no one understand how or why you did it.

During this Ted Talk the main saying was “people don’t care what you are doing, they care how you did it”. Nothing can get accomplished unless you have an understanding of what needs to be done. Leadersleadershipformation.011 understand what their goals are and they follow through with them. Those who claim to be leaders just hold authority and do not “dive in” to the tasks as hand. What helps makes the world go around is passion, strive, and the willingness to achieve. With these three characteristics in mind, putting forth effort and having the knowledge at hand can create a positive outcome almost always. So, as I am sitting in the library typing this blog I guess the final conclusion that I am trying to get at is when you are applying yourself to something, do it with  a purpose or don’t do it at all. Again, people don’t care what you do, they care how you do it.
